After making the ALCS three years in a row, Detroit looks to take the next step and win its first World Series since 1984 led by the best hitter on the planet (Miguel Cabrera) and arguably the best rotation, too. HITTING Power, speed, consistency; the Tigers seemingly have it all at the plate after an offseason where they completely revamped their lineup to better fit their spacious ballpark. Out are power-hitters Prince Fielder and Jhonny Peralta, replaced by gap-hitters Ian Kinsler and Rajai Davis, who should add another dimension to the Tigers lineup with their speed. Alluniverse slugger Miguel Cabrera, the two-time reigning AL MVP, appears poised for another Triple Crown run after offseason surgery to repair his core and groin. Victor Martinez slides into Fielder’s cleanup role as Miggy’s protector. Never-aging outfielder Torii Hunter continues to hit for average, and Austin Jackson could be primed for a breakout season. The biggest question seems to be the bottom of Detroit’s lineup, where there’s a lack of power. AL Central MARK CUNNINGHAM/GETTY IMAGES SPORT
