It was just the early part of the second quarter in this year’s Hall of Fame game, but it was already backup time when Buffalo quarterback Jeff Tuel took a shotgun snap and faked the ball to running back Anthony Dixon, who was crossing in front of him from the right side. Damontre Moore crashed down from his end position and chased Dixon. Moore paused for a moment, took a look back at Tuel and decided there was no way the pocket passer had suckered him. Moore grabbed Dixon. But Tuel had the ball. The third-year passer sauntered toward the right sideline with no one near him. By the time the Giants realized what happened, he had gained 13 yards the easy way. The zone read way. Built like linebackers who regularly pursue him past the line of scrimmage, Cam Newton has punished defenses with his speed and size, totaling 2,032 yards with 28 touchdowns.
