Then David Freese and the Cardinals had different ideas. After just missing the playoffs last season, the Rangers surrounded ace Yu Darvish with new additions Prince Fielder and Shin-Soo Choo. HITTING Even with losing All-Stars like Josh Hamilton, Ian Kinsler and Nelson Cruz, the Rangers’ offense may still be as potent as ever. Fielder could challenge for the AL home run title and be an MVP candidate hitting in the Ballpark at Arlington. Adrian Beltre is a near lock for a .300 batting average, 30 homers and 100 RBI. Shin-Soo Choo brings power, the speed to go 20-20 and is an on-base machine (112 walks and .423 OBP in 2013). Alex Rios is coming off a season when he hit 18 homers and stole 42 bases between the White Sox and Rangers. Elvis Andrus (42 steals in 2013) and Leonys Martin (36 steals) are speedsters, and Jurickson Profar could shine in his first real shot to stick in the big leagues. Catcher Geovany Soto is trying to recapture the form when he hit 17 homers in consecutive seasons in 2010 and 2011, but he will be out until at least June.
